Favorite Ballet
Any ballet that tells a story or can be interpreted with some sort of concept or storyline throughout. I love interacting with others onstage, exploring different facets of a character, and playing a part in the larger narrative of a ballet.
A Defining Moment
A defining moment in my career so far was having the chance to perform Odette/Odile. We were in the early stages of rehearsing Swan Lake when the pandemic shut everything down. Actually getting to premiere it almost two years later post-pandemic was amazing. I did my first entrance in Act II, came offstage and started crying. It was so wonderful and such a relief to actually be there in that moment, performing that part.
BIO
Adelaide Clauss joins Houston Ballet as a Demi Soloist from The Washington Ballet. Originally from Buffalo, New York, Clauss began ballet training with The Neglia Conservatory of Ballet, continuing onto The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre. Clauss’ repertoire includes Julie Kent and Victor Barbee’s The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and Swan Lake. Pointe Magazine named Clauss one of their “2019 Stars of the Corps” and was included in Dance Magazine’s 25 to Watch for 2023.
