Houston Ballet is committed to the health, safety and welfare of its community, including its artists, students, staff and their families.  Consistent with this commitment, and in response to the developing situation with respect to the coronavirus (COVID-19), Houston Ballet will begin restricting visitor access to its building. All upcoming Behind the Scenes Tours have been cancelled, and the processing of building tour requests has been temporarily suspended.

Step Into the World of Dance

Behind the Scenes Tour:

[GROUPS OF 20 MIN. - 100 MAX. One (1) hour experience.]

Ever wondered how a ballet makes it to the stage? Ever wondered how dancers train? On this hour-long look behind the scenes, come see a day in the life at Houston Ballet. Trained docents will guide you through our six-story, 115,000-square-foot facility located in the heart of downtown Houston's Theater District.

Behind the Scenes - Extended:

[GRADES 2-12 ONLY. Groups of 20 MIN. - 100 MAX. Two (2) hour experience.]

We've combined two existing Education & Community Engagement programs to bring you a new field trip opportunity! Our Behind the Scenes tour is enhanced by including a Ballet Talk in our Behind the Scenes - Extended program. Students will participate in an interactive, storytelling experience with one of our favorite ballets and develop an understanding of how a ballet moves from an idea, through rehearsals, to the stage!

[GRADES 7-12 ONLY. Groups of 20 MIN. - 50 MAX. Two (2) hour experience.]

This experience includes a Behind the Scenes tour of the Houston Ballet Center for Dance. On this tour, students will see professional dancers taking class, visit our world-class wardrobe facility, and step into the shoe room which houses hundreds of shoes.

The centerpiece of this building tour is the opportunity to meet and hear from a panel of Houston Ballet employees from a variety of departments, including Marketing & Public Relations, Development, Production, Audio/Visual and Education. Students will learn about different career opportunities at Houston Ballet and other non-profit, Arts organizations.
