Join Our Team
The Technical Director is responsible for drafting, generating & distributing all technical paperwork for every company production. This position manages & supervises all work activities of the Union stage crew at the warehouse and while in production at the theater or on tour. Working closely with the Director of Production and the APM, the Technical Director is integral in the assessment, planning, budget forecasting and archiving of all company productions and tours.
Costume Shop Manager
Reporting to the Head of Costumes, the Costume Shop Manager is responsible for the overall management of the daily activities in the wardrobe workroom including alterations, restoration and new builds.
150+ students are housed at a dormitory for their 6 week summer intensive program that runs June 17-July 27, 2019. The chaperones are responsible for providing safety and security to the students while providing a comforting and nurturing environment for the students.
Move-in day for chaperones is Thursday, June 13. Move-out day for chaperones is Saturday evening, July 27.
We are seeking to hire 1 Lead Chaperone, 1 Assistant Lead Chaperone and 8 Chaperones.
Assistant Stage Manager/Assistant Production Manager
The Assistant Stage Manager/Assistant Production Manager is responsible for managing the deck for all Houston Ballet productions called by the Head Stage Manager as well as managing studio, A/V and rehearsal needs. This position will also serve as the calling Stage Manager for Houston Ballet productions, as assigned. This position also supervises and serves as Stage Manager for events and performances by the Houston Ballet Academy and Houston Ballet II, as assigned.
Executive Assistant And Board Liaison
The Executive Assistant and Board Liaison provides high-level, confidential administrative support to the office of the Executive Director. Duties of the Executive Assistant are clerical, administrative and project-based and include scheduling travel and meetings, handling information requests, preparing reports/presentations and correspondence and liaising with members of the Board of Trustees. This position is often privy to confidential information and as such, requires diplomacy and discretion.
Summer Intensive Nurse
The Summer Intensive Program Nurse is a seasonal position responsible for ensuring the well-being of our 300+ Summer students. This position supports the Academy staff and Summer Chaperones to alleviate the need of frequent drives to urgent care or the doctor’s office. This person must be a board-certified RN. Dates of employment are from June 17 - July 27.
Lobby Monitor will help ensure the safety and security of Academy students in the downstairs lounge/lobby area of the Center for Dance.
The Facilities Assistant aids the Facilities Manager in the daily operation and maintenance needs of Houston Ballet Center for Dance and associated properties.
Public Relations Intern
The Spring PR Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of Houston Ballet’s Marketing & PR department. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the PR Manager and every effort is made to assist the intern in building strong professional skills. All internships are unpaid and offer flexible hours to accommodate school or work schedules for both undergraduate and graduate students.
The Production Assistant is responsible for providing proactive support to the Houston Ballet Academy for all of their studio, A/V, rehearsal, and performance needs. This position is the Stage Manager for all Academy productions at home or on tour as assigned. The Production Assistant also serves as the technician for the Margaret Alkek Williams Dance Lab, which entails maintaining the space as well as running programs and events.
Customer Service Representative
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) is responsible for delivering general Marketplace information to callers. The CSRs use basic office equipment and technology such as telephones, email, and web browsers to perform their duties. The CSRs assume ticket order responsibility and processing of payments during performances and throughout the work week.
Academy Ballet Mistress
This position assists in the supervision and training of HBII students.
Assistant Technical Director
The Assistant Technical Director, under the supervision of the Technical Director, will provide support for the Production Department including, but not limited to: drafting, coordinating bids, rentals and logistics, and assisting with the paperwork, planning, implementation and archiving of all company productions. The ATD will serve as the primary technical representative and Lighting Designer for all Academy productions and tours.
The Academy Pianist is responsible for piano accompaniment for Academy rehearsals and ballet class.
Boys Program Coordinator
This position provides teaching for lower, middle and upper school classes and will be the Coordinator of the boys in Pre Professional and Professional (not including HBII) Programs.
