Artistic Planning Coordinator

Working closely with the Artistic Director, General Manager, Artistic Staff, and Visiting Artists, the Artistic Planning Coordinator provides high-level administrative and logistical support for all Artistic Department and Company dancer activities. The Artistic Planning Coordinator is responsible for Company related scheduling, ballet casting documents, and class/rehearsal/studio matters. In addition to adaptability and attention to detail, this position requires someone adept at building and adjusting complex ballet schedules and is well-organized, self-starting, and decisive. 

Academy Resident Dorm Supervisor

The Resident Dorm Supervisor serves as a bridge for students’ independent living. Your job as the Resident Dorm Supervisor will be to provide a safe, clean, and resourceful environment for Houston Ballet students. A full-time, live-in position, you will be supervising the students who live in the Houston Ballet Center for Dance dorms.

In addition to a salaried wage, you will have access to the Residential Dorm Supervisor apartment (~900 sq. ft.) at the Center for Dance, located in Houston’s Theatre District, with the following amenities:

  • Fully Paid and Furnished Apartment (Queen Bed, Desk, Couch, Ottoman, Kitchen Table & Chairs, Nightstand); All utilities paid
  • Includes a Kitchen, Dishwasher, and a Stacked Washer/Dryer
  • Access to HULU TV and Direct TV
  • Free basic cleaning and trash removal 

You will need to be in residence most evenings. There are 2 days off per week covered by the Part Time Resident Dorm Supervisor. Days off can be flexible, but should be consistent.   

Costume Shop Manager

Reporting to the Head of Costumes, the Costume Shop manager is responsible for the management of the daily activities in the costume workroom, including alterations, restoration, and new builds.

Part-Time Dorm Supervisor

The Part-Time Dorm chaperone provides twice weekly supervision of students living in the Center for Dance dormitory. They assist in providing a safe, clean and resourceful living environment for Houston Ballet students.

Development Intern

Houston Ballet offers exciting internship opportunities to both undergraduate and graduate students throughout the year on an ongoing basis. The Development Intern position provides general office support to the Development Department, and every effort is made to assist the intern in building strong office and fundraising skills. This internship is paid and has flexible hours.

Merchandising & Sales Assistant

We are looking for a Seasonal Sales Assistant to help in Houston Ballet retail store. In this role, you will greet customers and provide them with product information or suggestions. Your other tasks involve keeping the sales floor clean, organized, and stocked with inventory. Since this is our busy season, we serve a high number of customers throughout the day. Employees must follow company policy and uphold brand standards at all times.  *Please note: This position does require significant work time outside the normal business hours.

Ballet Master

The Ballet Master works directly under the Artistic Director's supervision.  The work relies on applying extensive knowledge of ballet and teaching techniques for various classes and rehearsals.

Academy Instructor

Provide instruction for Academy classes – prepare and teach ballet and pointe in the Middle and Uupper School.

Part-time Customer Service Representative

The Customer Service Representative (CSR) is responsible for delivering general Marketplace information to callers. The CSRs use basic office equipment and technology such as telephones, email, and web browsers to perform their duties. The CSRs assume ticket order responsibility and processing of payments during performances and throughout the work week.

Academy Class Monitor


This is a part-time, in-person position located in downtown Houston, Texas. The position pays $15 per hour.

Academy Class Monitors will help ensure the safety and security of Houston Ballet Academy students at the Center for Dance, located in downtown Houston. Academy Class Monitors will handle COVID-19 screening and implement Academy health and safety procedures.  All Houston Ballet employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Hours for the position range from 15-25 per week, depending on availability.
