My First Ballet: Myths, Legends, Folk and Fairytales

Take a journey with us through Houston Ballet's library of myths, legends, folk, and fairy tales. Students will engage Greek mythology, American cultural identity, and European Folklore and traditions as they enjoy dances from around the world.

My First Ballet: The Sleeping Beauty

This ballet is based on the classic French fairytale by Charles Perrault: a beautiful princess is cursed by an evil fairy, and doomed to sleep for a hundred years--only to be awakened by the kiss of the handsome prince who loves her.

All performances take place in the Margaret Alkek Williams Dance Lab at the Houston Ballet Center for Dance located at 601 Preston Street, Downtown Houston 77002.
