Shu Kinouchi was born in Kanagawa, Japan, he began dancing at the age of two at Mayumi Kinouchi Ballet Studio under the direction of his mother. At the age of nine, he began participating in ballet competitions in Japan. Mr. Kinouchi trained at Hamburg Ballet School, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School and American Ballet Theatre Studio Company. He was a finalist in the 2010 Prix de Lausanne. In 2012, Mr. Kinouchi was an apprentice at Jessica Lang Dance and then he danced at Tulsa Ballet for 3 years. Mr. Kinochi joined Houston Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet in 2015.
Since joining the company, Mr. Kinouchi has danced in works such as Ben Stevenson’s The Nutcracker (Fritz, Fat Boy, Soldier Doll, Spanish, Chinese, and Gopak); Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Manon; and Stanton Welch’s Brigade.
