Summer Audition Tour & Preregistration

2018 INTERNATIONAL AUDITION TOUR

Admittance into the summer intensive program is by audition at one of our 18 audition locations or by video audition. Houston Ballet Academy students enrolled for the 2018 Spring Semester do not need to audition for the summer program and summer placement will be emailed to current students in December. 

The six-week summer intensive program for Levels 5 - 8 is June 18 - July 27, 2018. Level 5 students have the option of attending six weeks or the three-week program June 18-July 7, 2018. 

The Lower School summer intensive programs are June 4 – June 16, 2018 and August 6 - August 18, 2018. Auditions for the Lower School program are only held in Houston.

Pre-registration: Pre-registration will open on November 1, 2017.  Online preregistration is strongly encouraged, but not required. Preregistration is available for each city until midnight on the Tuesday prior to each audition. Preregistration fee is nonrefundable $35 and in-person registration fee is nonrefundable $40. (Due to the currency exchange rate, students registering the day of at one of our Australian locations will need to pay $45 AUS.) You may only audition in one city. You must audition in your age group based on your age the day of the audition. Students that are 11 years old at the time of the audition but will be 12 by the first day of the intensive may audition in the 12+ age group at audition sites other than Houston.

Note: Students that are 11 years old and auditioning in Houston must audition with the 10 - 11 year old age group. 

Audition Day: Please arrive at the registration times corresponding to your age group listed below to check-in and receive your audition number. For day-of audition updates and weather issues, please check our Facebook account.

Video auditions: Video auditions are accepted, but in person auditions are strongly preferred. All video auditions must be submitted through our online portal with a $50 USD credit card payment. Emailed video links and mailed DVDs will not be acknowledged or returned. Summer video auditions can be submitted January 5, 2018 - February 12, 2018.  Summer video audition results will be conveyed by March 1, 2018.

Houston Ballet II Auditions: All audition tour cities will be Houston Ballet II consideration cities. If the adjudicator feels a student may be a candidate for HBII, the student will be notified via email and invited to attend an audition class at Houston Ballet Academy in the Spring. How to pre-register for summer auditions:

1. Log in here to view the Audition Tour 2018 Preregistration online form.
2. Select desired audition city from the alphabetical list and complete the form.
   • Note: You will be required to submit a $35 credit card payment to submit the form.
3. After you submit the payment: download, print, and follow the instructions for completing the one page paper audition tour registration 2018 form. Click here to download the audition form for U.S. cities. Click here to download the audition form for Australian cities.
4. Bring the receipt of payment, completed paper form, and two photos of yourself (any size): a headshot (all ages), first arabesque tendu (ages 9-11 only), or a full body photograph in first arabesque (ages 12-18 only) to the audition.
