For many young dancers, joining a professional program means leaving the comforts and familiarity of home to pursue their passion. Houston Ballet Academy strives to provide a well-rounded experience for our students, in addition to elite dance training and academic support, with the help of the Student Life Manager.
Students can request appointments in the Health & Wellness program as well as external medical needs, including appointments with the Nutritionist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. Students have access to the Houston Methodist Athletic Training team onsite with dedicated hours to be seen by the Academy Athletic Trainer.
Students may have the opportunity to participate in marketing and donor events requested by other Houston Ballet departments, such as our Development and Marketing/PR departments. Students take part in various student events, such as holiday celebrations, spirit weeks, performance field trips, free dress days, cultural heritage celebrations and more. Students receive one ticket for a performance of each program the Houston Ballet Company performs. In the Spring, students also get to attend the Professional Program Prom.
Non-United States citizens must obtain special documentation to enroll in Houston Ballet Academy’s Professional Program. International students are not allowed to take a full course of study without the proper documents. Canadian students only need an I-20, which is issued by Houston Ballet Academy. All other international students need an I-20 and an M1 visa.
