Body, Soul & Gershwin
Thursday, September 9  to Sunday, September 19
From sexy to soulful to spirited, this program offers a diverse menu of contemporary ballet. There’s a flavor for every palette, a technique for every taste. The Core is Stanton Welch’s fun and energetic tribute to the music of George Gershwin and Broadway movie musicals of the 1930s. Welch’s Tu Tu is a glittery and dynamic display of talent. Jiri Kylián’s Forgotten Land is somber and soulful, an intensely moving ballet. Recommended age: 5

Jewels
Thursday, September 23  to Sunday, October 3
Like precious stones, each gem in George Balanchine’s triptych Jewels shines brilliantly on its own. Emeralds is gentle romanticism in all its tulle and flowing movement. Rubies is neo-classical dance, a carefree throwback to the dynamic American style Balanchine created. Diamonds is classical to the core, a study in Russian imperial grandeur and precision. The world’s first abstract full-length ballet, Jewels pays tribute to three golden ages of dance, to Balanchine’s career and to the beauty of the ballerinas he loved. Recommended age: 5

The Taming of the Shrew
Thursday, June 9  to Sunday, June 19
With her independent spirit and tempestuous nature, Katherina is anything but the obedient bride of Petruchio’s dreams. Their marriage is a battle of the sexes, a lively clash of wills and personalities. In his Taming of the Shrew, John Cranko has created a fun and dazzling display of moods, virtuoso dancing and vivid characterization. More than any other ballet, The Taming of the Shrew pays tribute to the brilliance and wit for which Shakespeare is known. Recommended age:5
