Student Matinees are full-length performances by Houston Ballet with live orchestra. Your students experience these professional performances with interactive intermissions. Study guides with information and activities for before and after the performance are included to extend the learning experience.

In The Night

Three expressive ballets on this program offer a fascinating fusion of classical and contemporary artistry. Among them is Stanton Welch’s powerful Maninyas, Jerome Robbins’s In the Night,  and Lila York's Celts is a stunning fusion of Irish folk dance and ballet. Learn more about each, here.

The Nutcracker

Stanton Welch’s opulent production of The Nutcracker is one of the most splendid ever staged. In this, the most traditional holiday tale, Clara and Drosselmeyer travel together to the Land of the Sweets where the Sugar Plum Fairy is reunited with her prince – and where the magic happens. With grand sets and stunning costumes, The Nutcracker features the entire company of dancers as well as many Houston Ballet Academy students playing hundreds of fun and exciting roles.
