Create your Tradition
Snowflakes. Sword fights. Dancing dolls. A Christmas tree that reaches the sky. Stanton Welch’s opulent production of The Nutcracker is the biggest and most splendid ever staged. In this, the most traditional holiday tale, Clara and Drosselmeyer travel together to the Land of the Sweets where the Sugar Plum Fairy is reunited with her prince – and where the magic happens. With grand sets and stunning costumes, The Nutcracker features the entire company of dancers as well as many Academy students playing hundreds of fun and exciting roles.
Margaret Alkek Williams Jubilee of Dance
A Celebration of Artistry
This 50th Anniversary Jubilee of Dance promises to be even more spectacular than ever. With spoken narrative and exquisite dance, the evening will present a glimpse into the history of the Company, as told by some of the most beloved artists. There will be tributes to Houston Ballet legends and showcase works for current and future stars. Reserve your seats early, for the Jubilee of Dance is an evening not to be missed.
Special thanks to Margaret Alkek Williams for endowing this annual gala performance.
Academy Spring Showcase
Stars in the Making
They’ve performed on stages in Australia, Guatemala, Hungary and Mexico, and have been honored at the Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland. In fact, these young dancers are so exceptionally skilled, it’s hard to believe they’re students. Yet they all train at Houston Ballet Academy. Whether they’re performing scenes from well-known ballets or new works created especially for them, the talented dancers represent the future of ballet, a future that looks to be very bright indeed. Its a must-see to experience the stars of tomorrow.
