Kelly received her early ballet training at The Susquehanna School of Ballet in Oneonta, New York and later Springs City Ballet in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1996, she accepted a scholarship to become a full-time student at Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy, receiving the Michael Wasmund Memorial Award upon graduation in 2000. She joined Houston Ballet as an apprentice in July 2000 and retired as a First Soloist in December 2014.

Ms. Kubin’s repertoire included Principal and Soloist roles in works by George Balanchine, Christopher Bruce, Nacho Duato, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Kenneth Macmillan, Mark Morris, Jerome Robbins, Ben Stevenson, Twyla Tharp and Stanton Welch. She originated the role of Gamzatti in Stanton Welch’s La Bayadere and the role of Myrtha in Houston Ballet’s Giselle. She also created the role of the Mother in Christopher Bruce’s Hush, the role in which she gave her final performance with Houston Ballet. Ms. Kubin was also fortunate enough to perform with other Houston based dance companies including Hope Stone Dance and Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre.

Ms. Kubin is currently teaching with Houston Ballet Academy, Vitacca Dance Project, and Hope Stone. She is also a frequent guest speaker for Houston Ballet’s Education and Outreach department.
