Patrons with Children FAQs

21

If I have to remove my child from the theater, can I re-enter the performance?

Out of respect for other audience members, no one can enter the theater while the dancers are performing.

22

At what age is it appropriate to bring a child to the ballet?

Children attending a ballet performance should be able to remain quiet and attentive for a two-hour performance. Houston Ballet generally recommends that children be at least two years of age to attend a performance. But individual maturity levels vary, and parents know their child's level of maturity best. Story ballets, such at The Nutcracker, are an excellent introduction for children. No matter what age your child is, he or she must have a ticket. Also please note that parents will be asked to remove children creating a disturbance during the performance out of respect for other guests.
