TO BODY, SOUL & GERSHWIN
TO PATRONS WITH TICKET STUBS FROM THE FILM MAO'S LAST DANCER
HOUSTON, TEXAS - From September 9-19, 2010, Houston Ballet launches its 2010-2011 season with a mixed repertory program entitled Body, Soul & Gershwin, featuring Stanton Welch's lively and colorful neo-classical work Tu Tu, Jiří Kylián's emotionally charged abstract ballet Forgotten Land, and The Core: Gershwin, the Heart of the Big Apple, Mr. Welch's Broadway-style ode to 1930s New York City glamour. Houston Ballet will give six performances of Body, Soul & Gershwin in Brown Theater at Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston. In celebration of the Houston opening of the feature film Mao's Last Dancer on August 20, Houston Ballet is offering patrons who present a ticket stub from the film Mao's Last Dancer a 50% discount to all shows of Body, Soul & Gershwin.
The offer is valid for seats in the grand tier and balcony I and balcony II sections only for all dates of the production. Ticket stubs from Mao's Last Dancer must be presented in person at the Wortham Theater Center Box Office (501 Texas Avenue at Smith Street) to receive the discount. Box office hours are Monday-Friday, 9 AM - 5 PM.
Mao's Last Dancer opens in Houston Friday, August 20 at the River Oaks Theatre at 2009 West Gray Street. From the Academy Award nominated director Bruce Beresford (Tender Mercies; Driving Miss Daisy), comes the inspiring true story of Li Cunxin and his extraordinary journey from poverty to international stardom with Houston Ballet. Based on the bestselling autobiography, Mao's Last Dancer weaves a moving tale about the quest for freedom and the courage it takes to live your own life. The film poignantly captures the struggles and triumphs, as well as the intoxicating effects of first love and celebrity amid the pain of exile.

Patrons who present valid movie ticket stubs from Mao's Last Dancer will receive a 50% discount on tickets to Houston Ballet's production of Body, Soul & Gershwin, running Sept. 9-19.
