Production Assistant Program
Stage Management Assistantship
Time Frame: exact dates negotiable, approximately 15 weeks
Parameters:
- Participate in the production process from rehearsals through execution in the theatre of the Fall Series. Assist in studios and serve as second assistant stage manager in the theatre.
- In years when the company produces a Cullen Series - Assist in studios as needed for new works being created. Serve as second assistant stage manager in theatre. In non producing seasons where another company is presented – assist company being presented as needed, serve as runner for company.
- Assist Houston Ballet II Stage Manager as needed and serve as assistant stage manager for all Houston Ballet II performances.
- Learn the Houston Ballet archival video library system and assist in conversion, duplication and maintenance of library.
- Serve as second assistant stage manager during all Houston Ballet productions. Duplicate a Houston Ballet Stage Manager score and learn to call the show from that score.
- Assist in other areas of the production department as needed.
Qualifications:
- Candidates should have completed at least 60 semester hours and / or be a Junior at their University by the start date of the assistantship. Sophomore students may be considered in special circumstances.
- Candidate should have the ability to read and follow a piano score.
- Candidate should have a basic understanding of audio and video equipment.
- Candidate should have an understanding and appreciation for classical and contemporary dance.
Requirements:

Compensation:
- Houston Ballet Production Assistants receive a weekly stipend of $200.00 per week for a total of $3,000 for the entire program.
- Houston Ballet does not pay travel or lodging expenses.
