One defining moment...

Randy Herrera was born in Acapulco, Mexico and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He first became interested in dance when his sister began taking classes and he had to go with her. Mr. Herrera attended the Latin American Performing Arts Conservatory in Chicago where he studied with Maria Francesca Cabrera. He then received a scholarship to The Chicago Academy for the Performing Arts, where he studied under the direction of Anna Paskeska, Claire Baitille, and Chicago choreographer Randy Duncan. After graduating from The Chicago Academy for the Performing Arts, Mr. Herrera joined The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago as an apprentice in 1997. He has won numerous awards, including the Princess Grace Award in 1999 and in 1998 received fourth place in the International Ballet Competition held in Jackson, Mississippi. In 2001, Mr. Herrera joined Houston Ballet as a soloist. He was promoted to first soloist in 2006 and to principal dancer in 2007.
