Dance to Learn- Elementary Programming

Dance to Learn is an arts integration program that approaches core curriculum from a kinesthetic perspective. Houston Ballet staff will work with classroom teachers to create programs that address TEKS in multiple subject areas. Programs will range from 1-6 class sessions and will be tailored to address grade level work and the school’s/teacher’s needs.

In its inaugural year, 2011-2012, Dance to Learn programs have been offered for Pre-Kindergarten and K-2 in all subject areas. Possible topics include the below (for TEKS information please click on the class titles):

Emerging Literacy, Fine Arts, Physical Development - Bringing Literature to Life (Pre-K)

Science – How WE Move (Pre-K, Kinder, 1st)

ELA and Social Studies: Up, Down, Turn Around (Kinder)

ELA – Performing Poetry (1st, 2nd)
