 Children's Summer Workshops
For Ages 4 and up

Session One: The Taming of the Shrew
Behind the Ballet 
June 1-5, 2015 

Incorporating dramatic moods, virtuoso dancing and vivid characterization, this ballet is a depiction of Shakespeare's play about an independent young woman named Katherina. Come explore movement, music, costuming and storytelling while creating your own version of The Taming of the Shrew to the musical score of Kurt-Heinz Stolze and Domenico Scarlatti . Parents and friends are invited to a mini performance on Friday at the end of the week.

The content of this ballet may be a little mature for our young children so we advise that you consider this when attending the performance.

 *Tuition cost includes 2 tickets to Houston Ballet's

Age 4-5: 10am-12pm daily
Ages 6-8: 1-3pm daily

Tuition: $335
Tuition does not include $35 Registration Fee

All tuition and fees paid to the Academy are non-refundable. Should a student withdraw after tuition has been paid, the remaining tuition will be forfeited to Houston Ballet Academy. The Academy is not liable or obligated in any way to process any refunds or issue any tuition credits.


Session Two: The Classic Story of The Nutcracker
August 10-14, 2015

The NutcrackerCome experience Clara's adventure with the Nutcracker Prince in the Kingdom of Sweets! In this week-long workshop, children will experiment with movement, music, costuming, and storytelling as they relate to Ballet. Students will choreograph their own segments throughout the week. Both age groups will close with a parent observation of class on Friday. 

 *Tuition costs include 2 tickets to Houston Ballet's The Nutcracker!

Ages 4-5: 10am-12pm daily 
Ages 6-8: 1-3pm daily

 Space is limited and filled on a first come, first serve basis. Please check back frequently as sections may close.

Session Three: Boys' Intensive Workshop
August 17-21, 2015

Boys WorkshopCALLING ALL BOYS!

Our week-long boy's intensive workshop exposes you to the skills necessary to become a strong male dancer. This workshop, crafted specifically for boys, will highlight the importance of the male role in Ballet and will place an added emphasis on technique, stretching, muscle development, and strength training.

 Ages 7-12: 4-6pm daily

Tuition: $295
Tuition does not include a $35 Registration Fee

Dress Code:
Girls:           4-5 years:
Black sleeveless, scoop-neck, tank leotard and pink footless tights with bare feet. Hair should be neatly pulled back away from face. Please no skirts or additional items.
                    6-8 years: Black sleeveless, scoop-neck, tank leotard and pink footless tights, with pink ballet shoes and a notebook. Hair should be neatly pulled back away from face. Please no skirts or additional items.

Boys:          4-5 years: White short sleeve form fitting, crew neck t-shirt, black bike shorts (recommended style: Motionwear - Style 7105), with bare feet.
                   6-12 years:  White short sleeve form fitting, crew neck t-shirt, black bike shorts (recommended style: Motionwear - Style 7105), white socks, black ballet shoes and notebook.
